By acquiring Bennert Group Possehl further develops its business division Special Purpose Construction
Lübeck, 2nd June 2008 – With effect of 30 May 2008 Lübeck headquartered Possehl Group has acquired the Bennert Group - founded in 1990 and specialised in the restoration of monuments - and thereby enlarges its business division Special Purpose Construction. Bennert achieves sales of approx. 25 m € and has on average more than 350 employees. Headquarters of the company are in Hopfgarten (Thuringia).
The special construction works of Bennert consist in the structural safeguarding and restoration of buildings and monuments, the relocation of buildings and structures (transportation of complete and partial buildings to new locations) as well as in the structural diagnostics of buildings. Reference objects are amongst others the Brandenburg Gate, the castle Neuschwanstein and the Wartburg.
In future, Bennert will be managed as an individual business unit within the Special Purpose Construction division and will be able to develop successfully by keeping its own identity. The product and service range of today’s Special Purpose Construction division of Possehl covers the production of non-skid vehicular-use surfaces and aircraft-use pavements as well as the coatings and flooring materials for industrial, shop and traffic areas.
With the acquisition of the so far family-owned Bennert Group Possehl enlarges its Special Purpose Construction division. In view of this acquisition Norbert Scheuch, responsible for the Special Purpose Construction division within the Executive Board of Possehl, states the following: „We can assure the founder of the company, Prof. Dr. Wulf Bennert, that we as long-term reliable new owner will lead his company together with the well-rehearsed management team he has established into a secure and prosperous future. For us the Bennert Group is an excellent chance to develop our Special Purpose Construction division as a niche player in a reasonable way.“
The antitrust authorities as well as the supervisory boards of both companies have already approved the transaction.
Possehl Group, headed by the management holding L. Possehl & Co. mbH, with its independent business divisions Special Purpose Construction, Prescious Metals Processing, Elastomer Processing, Electronics, Cleaning Machines, Textile Finishing, International Trading and Services achieves sales of approx. 1,5 bn € and has more than 7.000 employees world-wide.
