The Entrepreneurs’ Group

IT and cyber security company now part of Possehl Digital

April 3, 2023

Lübeck/Cologne, April 03, 2023 – Possehl Digital, a division of Lübeck-based management holding L. Possehl & Co. mbH, has acquired 100% of Cologne-based digital company TWINSEC GmbH. In its second year of operation, the fast-growing Possehl Digital division is thus expanding its corporate portfolio to include an IT security specialist for medium-sized companies, which can offer customized managed services to the approximately 200 medium-sized companies in the Possehl Group.

TWINSEC was founded in 2007 and is already one of the established IT & cyber security providers on the German market with more than € 6 million in sales and a steady growth. In the newer area of managed services, the company has successfully built up industry knowledge, expertise and a very good quality service in recent years, winning numerous customers.

“With Possehl Digital, the topic of ‘managed security in medium-sized businesses’ will be even more in our focus,” says Managing Director Michael Gentzen. “In cooperation with Possehl Digital, we want to build up a complete Security Operation Center in just one year, and with this investment, we want to achieve a level of automation that will also enable medium-sized businesses to achieve high quality in the fight against cyber-crime,” adds CTO Christian Ehlen. Today, TWINSEC’s high-quality services primarily benefit larger companies. The companies that trust TWINSEC today include numerous customers from the upper midmarket and enterprise segment. In the future, the IT security company will operate under the name “Possehl Secure” in order to make clear that managed services and the security operation center for the IT and cyber security of medium-sized businesses are in the very special development focus.

Possehl Digital is the youngest of a total of 10 business units of the Possehl Group. Possehl Digital has set itself the goal of advancing digital transformation, particularly in medium-sized companies, and to this end enters into partnerships and participations that offer important digital solutions for industrial SMEs – such as a solution for the fight against cyber crime.

“True to our motto “From SMEs for SMEs”, we are consistently expanding our solution portfolio and our digitalization expertise for the Possehl Group with its approximately 200 companies. What our own companies need and find good, is also received by the market,” says Dr. Joachim Brenk, CEO at Possehl and also responsible for the digital development of the Possehl Group.

“Possehl Secure ideally complements our digital range of offerings. With Possehl Secure, we can efficiently enable IT and cyber security for medium-sized companies such as those in the Possehl Group, without burdening the companies with the previous high administration and cost effort. In addition, there are concrete new approaches such as OT security, i.e. the cyber security of machines in production, which we want to develop together,” says Dr. Myriam Jahn, Managing Director of Possehl Digital, pleased about the expansion of the solution portfolio.

For Possehl Secure, the merger means in particular being able to take advantage of growth opportunities in the future and offer the best solutions on the market suitable for medium-sized businesses. “We are looking forward to the cooperation and the opportunities it will create for both sides. What particularly convinces us about the Possehl philosophy is the great entrepreneurial freedom and the strong SME orientation,” emphasizes Michael Sieben one of the founders of TWINSEC.
Possehl Secure will remain operationally independent under the leadership of the current managing director Michael Gentzen and the two authorized signatories, Christian Ehlen and co-founder Michael Sieben. The company will continue to successfully develop and offer digital solutions in the area of IT and cyber security, now also with a focus on (German) medium-sized businesses, which Possehl also represents.
